What’s the difference between a vacation rental and a small hotel?
Vacation properties are privately-owned homes, while our small hotels are really personal, intimate hotels or mini-compounds where you might bump into other guests. Vacation homes are usually self -catering, while very small hotels might offer some sort of food service.
Where do I contact the property owner?
While viewing a particular property, you’ll see the ‘INQUIRE or BOOK’ tab on the top right. That’s where you can contact the owner directly
Can I search by available dates?
As all of our properties are owner-operated the only way to find out about availability is to start an inquiry for the ones you have fallen in love with by clicking on the inquire/book button on each listing.
Can I search using filters?
Yes, as we know how important it is to find what you are looking for, you can click on ‘search’ on the top right of our homepage and then choose ‘refine your search’ to filter by your preferences.
Do you have special offers?
We certainly do, and you can find our special deals here.
How do I cancel my booking?
If you need to cancel your booking please send a message to the owner via our conversation panel or the email address you received.
Who can I contact if something did not go as planned?

Can I book even though I’m not a chic nomad?
As soon as you book, you will automatically become one!
Do you personally stay in all of these places?
We have stayed in a number of them, are friends with many of the owners, and we plan to visit more. Remember, ‘1000 Places To Stay Before You Die.’

We are working on a ‘members only’ section where we will offer special discounts, among other things. Subscribing to our newsletter is the best way to be updated on all the new features we’re working on.
As an owner, how can I join your collection?
We are always looking for new BoutiqueHomes destinations. So we’ll be very pleased for you to share your property with us. How can I send new photos of my listed property?
If you would like to give your listing a fresh new look please send your photos via WeTransfer to “firstname.lastname@example.org”. We strongly encourage our owners to always update the quality and resolution of their property images. So please do. We’re looking forward to it.
Why are you re-thinking hospitality?
We feel that we are not alone in our passion for design and travel, or, in our desire to stay in visually stylish properties that are as heartwarming as they are different, with a genuine sense of place. Think of really small hotels with no traditional ‘front desk’. Don’t they need a new name and a new way of finding them?
What does ‘ephemere’ mean?
It’s a French word meaning transitory or short-lived, often used to describe flowers or insects that exist for only one day. Places you come to, stay in and leave. One-night stands, so to speak.
